SXSW Pop-up

Experiential Event Design

Objective: Construct an experiential pop-up in the SXSW Create & Cultivate pavilion to increase UrbanStems brand awareness. Drive foot traffic and customer engagement, while capturing names, emails and zip codes for lead generation.

Challenges & Considerations:

  • Time: 3 weeks to plan and execute

  • Budget: Under $5K

  • Space: 8’ x 8’ footprint allocated for our space

  • Resources: Limited - construct as much as we can by ourselves

  • Weather: Outdoor venue, no indoor contingency plan

Construction:

  • 3 metal frames sourced from local Austin welder

  • Lasercut signage (made by me at TechShop)

  • 300 Tropical leaves

  • 24 blocks of Oasis Foam to secure and hydrate stems for 72 hours

  • Photobooth with social sharing capabilities

  • Pouring rain in Austin during setup, but we made the best of it!

The Main Event

Hosted in the Create & Cultivate SXSW Pavilion. In addition to the “Braid Bar” pop-up, we supplied and installed florals for the Main Speaker Stage and throughout the event space.
